POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Seasonal Project Support - Public Works & Administration

Department: Public Works, Administration

Reports to: Township Manager

Hours: 8am to 2pm Monday -Thursday

Employment: June 2022 to September 2022

Salary: $20.00/hour

POSITION SUMMARY

West Pikeland Township is seeking an individual who can support the public works department when needed and serve as an administrative support for Summer 2022. This is an entry-level position with the Township. Duties include driving the Township small dump truck as the safety chase vehicle for roadside mowing, various types of maintenance work at owned property and facilities, parks and township roads. Also, the person will be scanning, categorizing and maintaining the records in a computer system. Must be capable of lifting fifty (50) pounds frequently. Must have a valid driver’s license. Priority goes to a West Pikeland resident. Position pays $20/hour at approximately 30-35 hours a week.

DUTIES

Landscaping and Road Maintenance duties including but not limited to:

Harrow/chain drag track

Mulching

Clear brush and limbs as needed on park property

Empty trash cans into dumpster

Weed in tot lot/pavilion

Perform minor improvements and projects

Ability to use small mechanical hand tools

Assist in clearing fallen trees on road and trails

Storm drain and pipe cleaning

Road Shoulder mowing driving the safety chase vehicle

Administrative duties including but not limited to:

Scanning documents and plans into the computer system

Categorizing the files by parcel number

Update the system with past and present information

Other duties as assigned

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively work with others.

Familiarity with computer, database, scanning and filing systems.

Ability to perform in compliance with and follow standard safety practices and procedures common to public works programs.

Courtesy and tact in dealing with the public.

Follow oral and written directions and willingness to learn.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Exercise judgment, initiative and discretion in developing work methods and operating procedures in order to implement departmental activities, policies and safety requirements.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A High School Diploma required, college degree desired.

A valid driver’s license.
