A Message from the Commissioners |
November 6, 2025
Tuesday’s General Election in Chester County did not go as planned due to the accidental omission of third-party voter names from the poll books. This issue affected all precincts and required thousands of voters, mainly registered as Independent, Libertarian, Green Party, No Affiliation, and Non-Partisan, to complete provisional ballots. The review and credit process for all provisional ballots begins tomorrow — per the PA Election Code — and will continue every day until complete. Answers to key questions about this matter are available at chesco.org/elections.
We know this incident caused frustration and inconvenience for voters and election day workers, and it was a cause of upset for Voter Services staff who work year-round to prepare and run our elections. As the three members of the Board of Elections, we sincerely apologize for this mistake. A comprehensive review is starting to determine what happened and what we must do to ensure this error never happens again. The results of this review and recommendations for improvement will be shared with you all.
We are deeply grateful to every election day worker for your patience, professionalism, and commitment under Tuesday’s difficult circumstances. Your dedication to civic responsibility is invaluable, and we regret the additional burden this placed on you. Josh Maxwell | Marian Moskowitz | Eric Roe |
