On Lot Sewage System Information

WHY DID I RECEIVE A NOTICE ABOUT MY SEPTIC TANK?

On February 6, 2017, West Pikeland Township approved Ordinance 2017-01, An Ordinance providing for a Septic Management Program for West Pikeland Township in accordance with municipal codes, the Clean Streams Law and Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act 537. The purpose of this Ordinance is to provide for the regulation, inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation of Individual Sewage Systems in our township. Full text of the Ordinance can be found here: https://www.westpikeland.com/ordinances

The Ordinance states, “Property owners shall arrange for an initial inspection of the On-Lot Sewage Disposal System to be conducted by a Pennsylvania Sewage Management Association certified inspector within three (3) years of the effective date of this ordinance for the purpose of determining the type and functional status of each sewage disposal system in the Township and every three (3) years thereafter”.

What does this mean?

The Township will be notifying residents who have not had an inspection and pumping report from a Licensed Liquid Waste Hauler in the last 3 years.

Your Hauler provides documentation to Chester County Health Department, there is no further action needed on your part except to schedule the service.

What should I do?

If you receive a letter and did have the inspection and pumping, contact your Hauler and they will need to provide the information to the Chester County Health Department. You can also forward a copy of your invoice to us at office@westpikeland.com

If you have not had your septic tank pumped and inspected since April 1, 2017, please contact a Hauler to pump  your septic tank. They will provide the information to the Chester County Health Department.

If you have public sewer, this notice does not apply.
