NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Supervisors of West Pikeland Township intend to consider enactment and adoption of an Ordinance at a regularly scheduled meeting to be held on January 20, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., at the West Pikeland Township Municipal Building, 1645 Art School Road, Chester Springs, Pennsylvania 19425. The proposed Ordinance would adopt a new Open Burning Ordinance to protect public health and safety and would repeal Ordinance No. 99-04. In general, the Ordinance would prohibit the burning of refuse, recyclables, trade waste, and household or commercial waste at any time. Fires associated with the production of agricultural commodities would be permitted on parcels exceeding four (4) acres. Burning of yard waste on parcels of four (4) acres or less would be permitted between November 1 and March 31, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding federal holidays. All permitted fires must be continuously attended by a person at least sixteen (16) years of age, located a minimum of fifty (50) feet from buildings and property lines, and equipped with appropriate fire-control equipment. Certain activities would be exempt year-round, including cooking fires, campfires, fire pits, and ceremonial fires. Alternatives to burning yard waste include chipping, composting, or disposal through a licensed trash service or landfill. A copy of the full text of the proposed Ordinance is available for public inspection at www.westpikeland.com or at the West Pikeland Township Municipal Building during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
