To our Residents: As your elected representatives, we want to share the importance of assessing our police department. In recent years, communities across the country, state and county have engaged in important conversations around public safety, trust, and accountability. Through this work, we've seen the value of reviewing and strengthening our local practices to ensure they meet the evolving needs and expectations of the community, and those professionals tasked to ensure our safety and security. Assessments play a key role in identifying opportunities for enhanced training, improving officer retention, and reducing risk and liability. They also help ensure our police force remains current with changes in law. This is about being proactive, supporting the dedicated individuals who ensure our services reflect the values and standards we all share.
