ART SCHOOL BRIDGE CLOSURE

PennDOT to Begin Construction to Replace Two Art School Road Bridges in West Pikeland Township

King of Prussia, PAThe Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today that construction is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 13, on a $3 million project to replace two bridges that carry Art School Road over a Branch of Pickering Creek in West Pikeland Township, Chester County.

Under this project, PennDOT’s contractor will remove and replace two existing bridges on Art School Road; construct a retaining wall along the southwest approach to the second bridge; and reconstruct the approaches to both bridges. Additionally, the project will widen both bridges and approaching roadways. A drainage swale will also be constructed and milling and overlay will be performed between the reconstructed sections.

Beginning on Wednesday, May 13, through Thursday, May 27, 2027, Art School Road will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Yellow Springs Road and Tiptop Road. During the closure motorist will be directed to use Yellow Springs Road, Route 113, Route 401 (Conestoga Road), and Chester Springs Road.

Local access will be maintained at all times. Temporary access will also be provided for the equestrian center located next to one of the bridges.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area or along the detour route because backups and delays may occur.

Kinsley Construction, LLC of York, PA is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.
